Before the invention of the “adaptor” cap—named because it allows a pump to fit onto a jar—people often had to dip their fingers into jars to apply thicker liquids, such as lotions or face creams. Pumps that fit these jars were rare and costly, leaving both customers and manufacturers frustrated, as the products were prone to contamination. Seeking a better solution, Bob Carow, owner and founder of Carow Packaging, took action in 1999.
Bob began by designing a neck mold capable of producing 28-400 and 28-410 neck sizes—an ideal size for automatically assembled lotion pumps. Initially, he used standard jar caps for the base cap and welded the necks onto them. As demand grew, he developed a dedicated mold to manufacture the adaptor cap as a single piece.

Diameter
Carow adaptor caps can fit on nearly any size jar. Our plastic cap sizes range from 33 mm to 120 mm, with custom options available.
Liners
Liners create a better seal between the jar or container and the adaptor cap. We recommend using a liner whenever possible to maintain product integrity.
Material
While most adaptor caps are made of polypropylene, Carow also offers specialty options in low-density polyethylene (LDPE), high-density polyethylene (HDPE), and even metal.
Shape and Texture
A cap’s shape and texture are largely a matter of personal preference. Some customers prefer a ribbed, functional style, while others like a smooth, squared finish, and still others prefer a rounded, domed look. Carow offers them all.
Neck Mounting Position
A centered pump is standard, but Carow also offers an off-centered neck, which may be a better choice for larger jars.
